Warm and Cool Weavings

Our third grade students have been reviewing warm and cool color.  We decided to weave them together into dynamic art projects.

Radial Design Printmaking

This was a fourth grade project using soft cut linoleum blocks.  They reviewed radial balance as well as the reduction print technique

1st grade Collage

These beautiful collage pieces were created with both cut and torn paper techniques.

3rd Grade Mixed Media

These beautiful birds were created by using colored pencil, paint, and oil pastel.  It is a great lesson on color, texture, pattern. Depth, and emphasis.  

Clay is abounding.

Illuminated Initials with 3rd Grade

After learning about Illuminated Manuscripts, students tried their hand at creating decorative letters.

Secondary Color Study with Kindergarten

These beautiful pumpkins were painted by mixing primary colors together to get secondary colors by one of my kindergarten classes.  

Painting with TEXTURE

Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, students used small strokes of watercolor to fill in their rooster drawings with color.  Students came back with additional color and layers of line to really create beautiful visual TEXTURE all over the composition.

Illuminated Initials

Students in 3rd grade are learning about books from the Middle Ages called Illuminated Manuscrips.  We are now making Illuminated Initials.  This also helps use cover symbolism in art.

Sunflower collages with Kimdergarten

My kindergarten era are working on texture so we created these beautiful sunflower collages.  Each layer has wonderful texture.

We have really worked on our endurance. In art as we have spent quite a bit of time on this project.  Some are really turning out well!

Pow Wow with Kindergarten

We learned about painting with natural dyes and painting with paint made from nature.

2nd Grade Still Life

This was a wonderful project that was made up of  several I projects.  First, we discusses symmetry and symmetrical balance in art.  Then we made a symmetrical vase. We talked about pattern and did scratch art on vases. Then we talked about texture when we painted our backgrounds.  Then we moved to collage for our flowers and finally oil pastel blending on our fruit. Whew!!!!!  But aren't they beautiful??

Collage Still Life

My 2nd grade students have had multiple mini lessons with this project.  First we learned about symmetry with the vase.  Then we observed placement in composition to creat depth.  Finally we learned about collage.  It took endurance on their part.
